5. Albert Heijn 'beesie' (commercial)

The fifth commercial is made by one of my favorite companies Albert Heijn BV. Albert Heijn is a giant supermarket chain. The albert Heijn chain has more than 800 stores spread over the Netherlands. Sadly, Mr. Albert Heijn recently passed away. He died at an age of 83 years.

Description of the commercial:
The commercial starts with a shot where the supermarket manager shows their new promotion tool: a beesie. This is a little cuddly animal. This commercial is made for the football World Champions 2010. Therefore all the football players of the Netherlands are playing a roll in the commercial. This is funny because they are doing grocery shoppings. Meanwhile the beesies are making lots of noice! At the end the supermarket manager tells that everybody will get a beesie when they do grocery shoppings at the Albert Heijn.

The affect:
This commercial had a great affect on people. That's because these beesies represented Albert Heijn supporting the Dutch football-team. These little cuddly animals looked funny and were fun to play with (by young children). These beesies and automatically this commercial had a good affect on people, because everybody was excited about these beesies and wanted to collect them. The special affect that this commercial had, is that everybody was excited that all the football-players of the Dutch-team were in the commercial. This beesies made it possible that lots of people felt attracted to do grocery shoppings at the Albert Heijn during the World Football Tournament 2010. So the affect of the commercial is great.

Conclusion: good or bad marketing tool?
This is one of the best marketing tools that Albert Heijn ever used. Due to the production of the beesies everybody wanted to do grocery shoppings at the Albert Heijn supermarket, because everybody collected these beesies. Albert Heijn succeeded to reach two goals:
1. more profit
2. connection between the customers and the Albert Heijn.
Due to the fact that the Albert Heijn completed those goals, the marketing tool is excellent. Happy customers and more profit means a good marketing strategy!

My opinion about this commercial is that it's great. The beesies are good promotion tools and it's funny that these football players did grocery shoppings at the Albert Heijn.
